Youth Launch of the Global Study in Indonesia

ECPAT Indonesia in collaboration with Cultural and Tourism (CURATOR) Research Interest Group Binus University and KOMPAK Jakarta, organised an International Seminar for young people with the theme #IamAResponsibleTraveler Put an End to Sexual Exploitation of Children in Travel and Tourism on 20 December 2016. This seminar was also aimed to launch the Youth-friendly Summary Report of the Global Study.

Attendants included over 600 children, young people, youth-led organisations, U.S Embassy in Jakarta, lecturer and mass media. They were actively engaged in the interactive questions and answers session moderated by Oviani from KOMPAK Jakarta (ECPAT Indonesia youth group). Mr. Thomas Muller, Deputy Executive Director of ECPAT International, Mr. Ahmad Sofian, National Coordinator of ECPAT Indonesia, Dr. Vitria Ariani, CURATOR Research Interest Group Binus University, Yabez l. Tosia, Ministry of Tourism, and Esti Damayanti, Coordinator of KOMPAK Jakarta spoke during this interactive seminar. The goal with this event was to try to increase young people’s awareness and encourage them to actively promote #IamAResponsibleTraveler.
