Posted on Apr 28, 2017

On 26-27 April, ECPAT International and The Code attended the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit 2017 in Bangkok, hosted by the Tourism Authority Thailand. The WTTC Summits raise awareness of the global, social and economic role of the travel and tourism sector.

The 2017 Summit, which was the first WTTC Global Summit ECPAT International and The Code participated in, was an opportunity to meet with both state actors and global travel and tourism companies and organisations. Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom David Cameron was one of the speakers at the Summit and in his speech he called on the travel and tourism industry to work with governments to help eradicate sexual exploitation of children in travel and tourism.
