Greece – Country-Specific Report

Despite the centrality of tourism to Greece’s economy, there is a scarcity of data and lack of understanding of the scale of SECTT. With a projection of up to 35 million tourist arrivals annually, under-reporting presents a real risk to children. Greece hosts the vast majority of Europe’s refugees, and evidence from CARE and the Global Study highlights that some tourists travel to Greece with the intention of sexually exploiting unaccompanied migrant boys.

ECPAT’s study sheds light on the various manifestations and dangers of SECTT in Greece. Much more action must be taken by both the government and private companies to protect children.
